Iowa Caucus

Today is the day when Iowans brave the cold and head to their neighborhood caucus to cast their vote.

I am not going to be one of them as I just can’t stomach voting for anyone of the candidates. My favorite deacon is going to be there. This is one of the few times when we disagree.

Kathie Obradovich, the political columnist for the Des Moines Register and the wife of a deacon, has some sage words of advice here.

About Susan Kehoe

I’m glad Deacon Larry will be going. I know he’ll be taking this seriously. It doesn’t do any good to moan and lament about the state of our country and then stay home on caucus night or election night. I know too many people who don’t exercise their right to vote, when my son, my dad, and my grandfathers have laid their lives on the line to protect that right.

I know that voting is important. But I can’t choose, in good conscience, any of the current crop. The national elections are another story. Right now I am praying that a better option comes riding in on a white horse before November. All things are possible with God, but I am not holding my breath.
