Catholics Are Not Baptized in Vinegar

The Practicing Catholic reminds us that although we are fighting against an administration that  is denying the Church the freedom to practice our faith,  we are called to be joyful.

“Joel and I often say that the “attitude” of this blog embodies what a practicing Catholic ought to be — intentionally, joyfully, and faithfully Catholic all the time. Our blog posts attempt to be the antidote to the perception that piety is boring or that the Church is filled with “sour-faced saints,” as St. Teresa of Avila warns us of becoming.

The recent Health & Human Services’ mandate that orders almost every employer and insurer in the United States to provide sterilization and contraceptives, including abortion-inducing drugs, has resulted in so much debate across the country. I have seen quite enough sour-faced Catholics arguing for AND against this issue.

So lately I am constantly reminding myself: ditch the sour-face, Lisa! Be joyful, loving, and boldly share the beauty of the Church’s teaching on contraception with others. It is a gift to be freely shared — give it away and share with love.”  Continue reading…

“Catholics Are Not Baptized in Vinegar” but they probably should be.

Personally if I encounter a sour-faced Catholic I don’t assume they were baptized in vinegar but that they’re bull of whiskey. But that aside.

The issue isn’t being for contraceptives versus being against them. The issue is that the President is trying to mandate that insurance companies have to give away something for free. Forget for a moment what that something is and the President still doesn’t’ have the constitutional authority to do it.

Ok, but now getting back to remembering what the President mandates to be given away for free. This is not a “women’s health issue” as the President and his troll-women (Nancy Polosi por ejemplo) want to claim. Children are not a disease to be prevented — this is not “preventative care.” Abortion also doesn’t prevent pregnancy but birth, so its clever in an evil sort of way how they snuck that in under the phrase “preventative care.” Furthermore, birth control pills (even the regular kind but especially the morning after kind) and abortions have been linked to BREAST CANCER.

If the Prez was really concerned with “woman’s health” he would mandate free drugs that treat breast cancer not that cause it! If the Prez has any interest in women’s health, it appears his interest is in RUINING IT. We also know it was the Obummer administration that forced Susan G. Komen, an organization supposedly dedicated to fighting breast cancer, to give money to Planned Parenthood, and organization that provides birth control pill and abortions that cause breast cancer.

So don’t let him get away with claiming he cares about women’s health. If we fight him on secular terms (hey, if you cared about women’s health why are you pushing something that causes breast cancer rather than something that cures it?) we have a better chance of reaching the morons who vote democrat.

But the whole — “don’t have a sour face” idea is as dumb as always turning the other cheek. Eventually you run out of cheeks and then its time to fight back. He’s already slapped all four cheeks, so its time to put on the sourest face available and get this freak impeached, or banned from the Ballot in 2012 for not having a valid birth certificate.

So the first Christians who went to horrible deaths with great joy were dumb? It is not about winning in this world. It is about receiving the crown of glory in the next. Heaven, after all, is our true home.
